Book review of Without a Goodbye by Swati Kumari

Blurb :
“27th October was like a normal weekend. Danica was in Patna with her uncle’s family. Before going for her competitive exam, she had called up her mother (Aarti) who lived in Fatehpur in a joint family. They had a regular conversation and ended the call. Aarti said that she would call Danica after her exam, in the evening.
In the evening Danica called her mom, but both her mobiles were switched off.
She called her aunt and was informed that Aarti had been missing since afternoon.
What happened to her? How can the thread that unites a family completely break with this sudden incident?
Does ending one’s life really end the problems?
Is giving up, the only solution to the problem?
A daughter and a mother. This is story of a life. You choose to live or to die.

About the book :
Swati in her debut novel has shared present state of women and how society looks at her when she is under some sort of critical phase in her life. She has written the book as her view of the society and is true to all extent. She has written simple English and is very easy to understand , the narration style uses picturesqueness and is amazing and you can actually feel what is written in the book. The book and plot is mildly paced and you feel no hurry in shifting from scenes. There is only a few scenes in the story where you feel you dont want so much details because you might know well in advance where it is heading. But overall you will be happy to finish the book.

I am trying to avoid spoilers here but you wont be able to guess the protagonist very easily till the last part of the book.book. Swati has shown the pain a women has to go through.Swati is successful in giving the message at the end which she wanted to.The book talks about what society actually wants from a women and what she should follow. As a debut novel she has done a great work like simple English , not too much drama and detailed perspective on things.

Overall the book is a onetime read and is very easy to understand. The book is short lengthen ,can be read in a day is light on the mind as well , if you enjoy reading thoughts on how you see life and situations you will certainly enjoy this book.We wish her all the best and congratulate on her debut book.
